Peter Pasyk Artistic Director, Co-Founder

Peter Pasyk

Peter Pasyk is an actor/director/producer with several film, TV, and theatre credits. He is also a co-founder of surface/underground theatre. Peter has worked throughout Toronto, diversifying himself and broadening his skill sets, working towards better strengthening his artistic senses. He has taken the opportunity to work as a story editor for both plays and screenplays, has tackled adapting a novel into a play, and has directed a small one man show. As an actor he has studied at the Ryerson Theatre School, as well as at the Pro Actors Lab and with John Riven focusing on Sanford Meisner's technique. Peter's professional directorial debut was William Mastrosimone's Extremities, a play that he was fortunate enough to get consultation on from the original playwright. In April he will direct Stephen Adly Guirgis' Den of Thieves also produced by surface/underground theatre.

Daniel Roberts Co-Founder, Producer

Dan Roberts

Daniel Roberts is an actor who has been seen on stages across Ontario. He is a graduate of both the Ryerson Theatre School and The Birmingham Conservatory at Stratford. In 2007 he won the Douglas Campbell award from the Stratford Festival. Daniel has also been involved in educational outreach, teaching Shakespeare at several high schools throughout Ontario. Daniel’s first venture with this theatre company was producing his play Country Boy at the New Voices festival. Daniel is an original co-founder of surface/underground theatre.

Antonio Cayonne Company Manager, Producer

Antonio Cayonne

Antonio Cayonne is an actor/producer/poet who graduated from the Ryerson Theatre School, and is a proud member of surface/underground theatre. In theatre, Antonio has been able to use his talents as a writer and poet to collaborate on new works with artists of different disciplines. Through his work as an actor, Antonio has been introduced to educational outreach as both a guest artist for Soulpepper’s Youth Groups, as well as a lead Facilitator for Canadian Stage’s Youth Groups, as well as for Pleiades Theatre. Antonio is the Director of Community Development for the company he co-founded, Project: Humanity. Through this enterprise, he has had the opportunity to initiate and develop new theatre, as well as educate the community through a variety of artistic events.

Nicholas Abraham Company Member, Producer

Nicholas Abraham

Nicholas Abraham, a graduate of St. Andrews College and the Ryerson Theatre School, played the role of Raul in surface/underground theatre’s inaugural production of Extremities by William Mastrosimone. Nick also spent time studying in England at the British American Drama Academy with such luminaries as Brian Cox.

Theatre credits include: Waiting for lefty (Column13), Bella Donna (Some Strange Reason) Winner of “Audience Pick 2005 Fringe Festival”, Romeo and Juliet (Sudbury Theatre Co.), Scenes from the Underground (surface/underground theatre).

Film & TV credits include: Sidney Furie’s feature film The Four Horsemen and the CTV movie Would Be Kings Directed by David Wellington.

Riley Gilchrist Company Member, Producer

Riley Gilchrist

Riley Gilchrist, originally from Calgary, moved to Toronto to study at the Ryerson Theatre School. Upon graduating Riley began working extensively in television. Riley has also created and run theatre workshops for the Calgary High School Drama Festival as well as with youth from Toronto’s Red Door Shelter. He is excited to be working with surface/underground theatre this season.
